How To Use The Blank Templates

If you haven't figured it out yet, here is a graphic explanation on how to use the blank templates to create your own avatars and buttons:

Got it? No? Here's a more detailed explanation...

  1. Download the template you want and open it with your image editor. Mine is Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Convert the template to RGB Color. Press Image > Mode > RGB Color to do it.
  3. Get the image you want for your avatar and paste it on the template. Now, you have 2 layers. Layer 1 is the template and Layer 2 is your image.
  4. Move Layer 1 on top of Layer 2 as seen on the third graphical explanation.
  5. Change the color of the pink border to whatever color you want. I chose green to match the color of the eye.
  6. Using the Magic Wand tool, select the white parts of the template and delete it. Make sure you highlight Layer 2 and delete the selected parts as well.
  7. Convert the avatar into Indexed Color by pressing Image > Mode > Indexed Color. Don't forget to place a check mark on Transparency.
  8. Save the avatar.

These instructions may vary if you use a different image editor. Follow these same steps for the buttons.
